Britain and France are the origins of ice hockey. The first evidence of ice hockey can be traced back to 500 years. Many people believe that hockey players have made some adjustments to hockey to be able to play in the cold and icy winter. The origin of the word hockey may be the French word "hoquet". Represents a "curved stick."
Ice hockey was first introduced in North America by British sailors arriving in Nova Scotia. Almost at the same time, students at McGill University in Montreal began playing ice hockey. In due course, a small ice hockey club was formed in Ontario, consisting of four teams. Gradually, it began to grow, and in a very short time, clubs from different cities began to compete with each other. Lord Stanley of the English Governor Preston recognizes the ability of these first players and teams to create unique silver bowls to reward the best amateur ice hockey, team. This is the beginning of the Stanley Cup.
In the past, an ice hockey team used to have nine players but later fell to seven. Each team will have two defensive players, one goalkeeper and one roamer, who will participate in the competition. The first professional hockey league was founded in Michigan in 1904. It went bankrupt three years later. Then, three years later, the National Hockey Association (NHA) and the Pacific Coast League (PCL) were formed. At the end of the First World War in 1917, the NHA became the National Hockey League, and in the late 1920s, the Pacific Coast League was dissolved. Initially, there were only ten teams.
Ice hockey sticks are slightly less curved than conventional hockey sticks and can be made of wood or modern composite materials. Ice hockey players use a vulcanized solid rubber disc called a disc that must be hit with a stick to the goal net. They also use unique skates with a blade grip to facilitate contact with ice. Ice hockey has 30 teams in six departments in the US and Canada and has become a popular sport.
